the feeling of stoke
Wrapped me some fresh bar-tape today. Super tacky, with a rad topographic pattern. Stoked

I know the colors on this new Specialized mountain bike are very 80’s/tacky/gaudy, but I love them. And this bike! This singlespeed 29’er is pure bliss. I am stoked to intern for a company that puts out bikes like this.

So, I am considering getting an iPhone, and the new Vans waffle sole case is part of the reason I even would want an iPhone. Honestly. After discovering their case, I went on a quest to find other products that make use of Van’s classic waffle sole.
These bmx grips are pretty rad. New single speed or mountain bike be warned, I will put these on you.

I’ve been trying to learn to model in Rhino. A recent project is this Bauhaus-inspired toolset. Modeled with Rhino, rendered in Keyshot. Stoked on simplicity.

So, turns out I got the internship with the design division at Specialized Bicycles in Morgan Hill, CA!
Stoked. Elated. Excited.
I can’t wait for this summer.

How much do I love this news? THIS MUCH.

I know that this is old news now, but I am still so stoked to have gotten Joel back! Plus, I really appreciate this blogger’s announcement of her stoke in regards to the news.

My latest art piece: Mounted Saddle Bull’s Head.

It’s my own nod to Picasso’s famed bronze sculpture cast from an old saddle and bullhorn handlebars mounted in a similar fashion. My sculpture was made from a battered and beaten 1970’s Brooks saddle, 80’s time-trial bars, and recycled fasteners. All in all, it cost less than $10 to put together.

Stoked to install this mounted bull’s head at my house!

Internship interview-ed

I just got off the phone a few minutes ago from a half hour phone interview with two design leads at Specialized. I think I did pretty well for myself! However, I am now going to be feeling super jittery until I hear back from them…

What do you do when you are bored back at home over Spring Break?

It’s 4:27 am and I just got home to my bed. Let’s just say it was a good night out… something I have not experienced in a long time! People are fun.

“Waiting is the hardest part”

Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers sure had it right. Waiting is the hardest part.

But today, I had a little relief for my anticipation and questioning. The senior designer at Specialized got in touch with me to set up a little get-to-know-me phone call. God. I am very relieved that my application and portfolio had been thrown aside.

I really want this internship, world. Cycling is one of my most intense passions in life, and Specialized is one of only two cycling companies I know of that offer internships to design students. This internship is just calling my name.

Opensource 3D printed connectors to merge legos to k’nex, tinkertoys, and more

Possibly my favorite take on a “mash-up” this year. Some creative and awesome folks have devised 3D printed adapters to connect our favorite sets of childhood building toys to one another.
